Hi all, well it looks like the primers are pierced. Took a couple hulls and filled them with water. They leaked.

I looked at the firing pins and they protrude the same and the one firing pin looks to be in good shape (round not sharp).

So, do you think this is a headspace issue?

Thanks again all!!!!

Greg

I had my fox 16 ga put back on face and encountered the same problem except in the left barrel, to the point the gun was hard to open if the left barrel was fired, I had the head space in the left ejector blade cut a little deeper and problem was fixed.
But as Joe says,,,, try differant ammo first.

Hi all, thanks again for all the good advise. I sent the bbls off to Keith Kearcher for re-browning (to get the pattern to pop out) and he's going to check the headspace on it. So we'll see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again!!!!

Greg

Cheddites have reputation for pierced primers in some guns, yet work fine in others. Some high volume target shooters complain of pierced Cheddite primers leading to erosion of the firing pin, ultimately necessitating replacement.

Given the frequency in your gun, do like others have said and use a different ammo or primer. Your gun does not like Cheddites.

A few of us at our club ran into some issues with cheddites. They are more sensitive than American primers. Be carefull,if enough gas makes it thrue the firing pin holes you can end up with a cracked stock!

Hi all, well had the gun inspected and the headspace was off by .020. Keith Kearcher has the bbls for rebrowning and he is going to fill and recut the flanges. Said that it would put the gun right as rain.

Thanks again for all the great responses!

All the best!

Greg
