The serial # of this gun is 22463.

I can't say this Fritz Wagner peddled example in Altenburg was sourced from August Sch�ler but it looks similar to a August Sch�ler example and from the same period was well as a serial number in the 24k range. But I don't see any RW stamps on the water table and there isn't an image of the area of the tubes from the flat to the forend hanger. I'm sure there were other concerns which were in the 20k range also.











Interesting how the Imperial Eagle die struck on the underside of the right tube.

looks to me like- "Die Adler ersatz ist, Ja?""

Possibly a worn die stamp?

I've pondered a bit more on the "N" craftsmen and at a minimum I've omitted Friedrich N�schel & Johannes and Stephan Nothnagel, if either had any descendants. But many, many craftsmen lost heirs in The Great War/WWI and the pool of talented craftsmen was diminished with one example being H.A. Lindner's sohne Ernst Lindner(about 1/2 way down):

These sites give insight as to the pre-WWI craftsmen potential.

And the makers filled the production task gaps with mechanization based on wartime advances.
