I am interested in purchasing another SxS after my first purchase of a Parker DH. A couple of local shops shops have three that I am interested in but have not been able to locate much information on, even on the auction sites:
The first is a 12 ga made by James Crockart and Son. The gun is a box lock with nice engraving and a little above average wood. The wood has slightly recessed from the receiver but is still solid with no movement. The original damascus barrels were very nicely replaced a long time ago with fluid steel by a T. Wild-Birmingham. Chambers are 2.5" $2700
The second is a boxlock by Newnham Ltd. This is a rather heavy gun with 32" barrels, sideclips, and a Greener crossbolt. It is chambered 3" Magnum and has proof marks at 4 tons per sq. in. $2499
The third is a boxlock by Cogswell and Harrison Avant Tout in 12 ga. This gun is nicely engraved with 2.5" chambers, 28" barrels, ejectors and a nicely done extension to the stock. The gun handles very well, almost like a 20 ga. $3995
My questions are what are the reputation of each of these makers and do any of these guns stand out as a good value of a next purchase. All fit me well. Thank you for any help.
