Gentlemen:
The issue: There is NO significant double gun shoot and vendor gathering between the Southern Side-by-Side in April and Vintagers in September. Only small club events offer diversion.

The question: Would a "Southern" type event (in size and quality) draw your attention, respect and attendance in Early August?

The venue: It would be held in northeast Ohio area at a nationally-renowned club that equals or exceeds Deep River in terms of facilities and space, is convenient to major highways, airports and upscale dining, hotels, etc. Not one, but two NASCA-level clays courses would be offered, along with 5-stand, skeet and trap. Entry fees would be comparable to the Southern.

The prospectus: If there is sufficient positive interest, such an evet may be organised for Summer, 2012.

As O'Reilly opines: What say you?

You've obviously not attended the Northeast Side x Side at Hidden Hollow in Pennsylvania.
Having said that, I also wish that there were more such shoots, however, Summertime shoots usually suffer from a lack of attendance as the shooters, their wives and children generally have other priorities during the Summer months.

Like Mike said, the big SXS shoot at HHHSC on June 3-4-5 of 2011 this year. It was a great shoot this year, the rain stayed away. Any later in June and it may get to hot at HHHSC.

August is too hot in Ohio. Also the vendor tents may end up doing what the outdoor stage at the fair did in Indy just the other day, blow down in a summertime thunder storm. Ohio plus August equals big thunder storms. Guns and tents and thunder storms are not a good mix.

Maybe up around the Finger Lakes of New York the weather would be pleasant enough to hold a big SXS shoot in August.

The last weekend of September in Maryland is sometimes to hot to do much shooting. Some years the last weekend of September in Maryland is prime time for the last hurricane of the season.

The third or fourth weekend of May in 2012 would be a good weekend to shoot in Ohio.

Good Shooting To You All, Jent
