A number of years ago Bill was kind enough to sell me this old Lefever because he thought I could actually make her whole again. Well, the project is really under way and the photos that follow will show kind've where I am with the project.
BTW, I really miss Bill and Oscar !!!!!!!!
Before I post the pictures I have to give credit to Glenn Fewless for pushing me over the edge to start the project because he rematted the rib for ( a really fine job I might add). That was the one thing I wanted done or at least that was my excuse for not starting the project sooner.
I also changed the wood that I was going to use on the gun. I originally had purchased a wonderful piece of California English for the gun but it just didn't look right. SOOOooooo I bought this piece of walnut that had a birth place in one of the "stans", I don't know which one.
This gun is a very early Lefever Optimus Quality so the amunt of engraving is not what you might expect on one of these guns. Is does need to be recut to make it crisp and the dogs need some hair but it's all there. Bill Murphy claims he wore the gold down carring the side plates in his pockets at the Vintagers.
Since these pics have been taken I've made even more progress but what you see is what you get for now.
