Ask Harry Whittington.
They took 40 pellets out of his face and shoulder, just so he could apologize for getting in the way.

Do a search at trapshooters.com and you will see my pair of Oakley lenses that I did my own test on after they were ruined by an errant clay target. Search for Oakley in the subject line. I was very impressed with the result. JW

At 15 yards yer going to need a head replacement. Yup. It'd be interesting to see at what distance a #5 would penetrate those glasses.

At 15 yards yer going to need a head replacement. Likely the case, but if you do survive at least you'll your vision. Skulls are hard, eyes are not.

I still think different shot size at these and the respective distances where they penetrate would be helpful. I think there's enough usage of larger shot sizes that people would like to know. Frankly, I hardly ever use shot below 7 1/2. If they'd had tested only two sizes, I would have wished for #6 for upland and whatever waterfoulers use (and in steel and a popular lead sub).

Kinda silly when most hunters don't wear glasses in the field.

Actually ALL the hunters I hunt with and have hunted with for years wear glasses in the field to protect their eyes even if they don't need them to see.
Hunting grouse in the NE jungles without protecting your eyes happens only until you poke your eyes with a twig. Next time, you wear glasses. And pheasant hunters are mostly aware that a stray shot in the eye is always possible, even from a hunter quite far away.
