There is nothing better than starting a young boy off properly with a good vintage double. My son took this big bird a few years ago with a 99% original condition .410 L.C. Smith at about 15 yards. He went on his first dove hunt this month with my ex-father in law and took a little 20ga L.C. Smith Field Grade. All the grown ups he was hunting with had 12ga autos and pumps. He was shooting 2.5" RSTs and managed to kill two doves. No pics of that as I wasn't there.

That is just neat Pre-13! I wish I had my own kids to take hunting. Old bachelors like me have to take other kids out shooting. This summer I started out one kid shooting 22 and last weekend I let two teenagers have all the fun they wanted with my Sarriugarte 12 bore. They shot up all of my trap loads on clays. Guys, whether you are married with kids or not, there are a lot of eager kids out there that want to learn to shoot. Sometimes I get into trouble with some anti-gun parents for teaching these kids but those parents can kiss me where my hair grows short and the smell grows strong.
