I am looking at an over/under combination gun with German proofs. After-market claw mounts were added and they cover up part of the maker's (or retailer's) name. All that is readable is "Emil Ki____". From deep in the cobwebs of my brain I seem to remember an Emil Kirschner or some such. Can anybody venture a guess? All signs point to manufacture around 1900. Thanks. mike

I have a nice Emil Kerner double from about 1920. As you say, not high-end, but well made. Our Raimey knows more, and you can find his and other information by using Search function; just type-in Kerner. Raimey's post from 15 December 2010 is especially informative.

IMHO as you read "Ki", not "Ke" Emil Kirsch of Berlin, gunsmith, mentioned about 1910, was the likely retailer of your gun.Sorry, but nothing more is known to me. Emil Kirsch is the only other "Emil K.." besides Emil Kerner, Suhl, Trübenbachstr. 3/5. Emil Kerner opened about 1889/90. By 1921 the company was known as "Emil Kerner & Sohn". 1928 Emil was no longer mentioned as one of the owners.
