Has anyone ever had one bent and what were the results over the years. I was told by my normal guy he doesn't bend them he's had a few crack.

I had a Francotte bent by a well known 'smith in Texas about 18 years ago. It sprang back w/in months, and was not damaged. I didn't send it back as it took over a year and the intervention of Bob Brister (who recommended him in the first place) in my behalf to get it back on the first go around. I wasn't about to send him anything ever again.

I know of others who report high success with a bend.

I've never heard of a stock being bent, so I can't comment on that. I imagine it would take a lot of time and "secret oils".

But I know in the muzzleloading world bending barrels is commonplace. I've heard several reports of high success and no reports of disaster. Often times the only tool used is the crook of a tree!

Just bent a Winchester 21 on Monday, left handed. The biggest problem in bending a gunstock is time. If one takes the time, does the necessary inspections prior to bending, and then WAITS for the gun to fully set....there should be no problems. There are many good benders in our great land.

To all veterens....THANK YOU
