Take a can of your favorite beer. Drink the beer. Cut an aluminum shim from the empty beer can and use it to shim the barrel hinge pin. Since aluminum is soft it'll form to the correct thickness all on its own. Enjoy the gun, after a few hundred shots it may become loose again, time for another beer!

Oh, it's nowhere loose enough to get that kind of shim into place. With the fore end off it takes a pretty good shake to get even the slightest 'tick' of a wobble felt in the hands. If I stick with the proper light loads I'll probably get quite a few more years out of it.

("Take a can of my favorite beer." Uh-oh... that'd definitely be a problem right off the bat! None of the beers I'm most likely to consume are available in cans; my homebrew all goes into bottles, and a crushed up IPA bottle probably wouldn't be quite the same.)

Sorry, I guess they don't sell Shiner beer in Seattle at all, much less Shiner Bock in cans. Maybe y'all get lucky someday... laugh

Oh, sorry - we do have Shiner Bock available. Haven't had one in ages, though. (Been doing more homebrew and highly-hopped IPA's are also very popular around here.)

I may have to pick one up to hold in reserve in case I do need to make that shim wink

Thanks, everyone, for the info and tips - and have a great holiday season!
