Has anyone seen and/or reloaded any of the "new" HS AA 28 ga. shells? They are supposed to be longer, so there will not be the center opening left in the first HS version. Thanks

Jim, I've loaded HS right after loading old AA's on my Ponsness. Both look like factory shells. Don't know if they're new or old HS but I bought 10 cases from Dick's on sale last year for $4.99 a box. That was all they had. I just hear all the rumbling on the HS and continue to hoard all the one piece hulls that I can find.

Thank you, Fred. What wads are you using for the HS shells? Thanks again,

I used the HS wads and 540 powder. But have only loaded 100 of these to see how they work

Oh my gosh, now there are two different varieties of the dreaded new HS hulls. Which variety is more likely to separate a base wad and blow up my Parker? When are we going to get to the end of this punishment that the ammo companies are making us suffer? I, for one, am not throwing away my old 28 gauge hulls.

I've not heard of basewad seperation AA-HS problems except for 12ga. I must have loaded and used 10,000 of the 20ga. AA-HS so far with zero problems. I do use a MEC loader, and the problems reported with 12ga AA-HS were in conjunction with PW and Spolar equipment pushing the basewad up during primer seating.

The 28 AA-HS is increasing in price - Wal-Mart sold them for about $6.70, then about $7.50, now about $9/box.

I've reloaded at least 1000 of the HS shells for my wife's Sig-Rizzini. Not sure if they are the "new" longer shell but they just about close completely using Win HS wads, 3/4 Oz, and Longshot on my MEC press. Recently, I have not been able to find Winchester wads locally or mail order. Just got some Claybuster clones to try. I hope they work as I just bought a Beretta 686 S in 28 ga.

(T)he problems reported with 12ga AA-HS were in conjunction with PW and Spolar equipment pushing the basewad up during primer seating. This was my friends personal experience as well. New Spolar press. Once fired HS 12 ga. hulls. Gun doubled when the bottom barrel was fired. Expanded the chamber and mono block of his Kemen. We presume it was a base wad separation which lodged in the forcing cone. This was determined by the smith who inspected the gun and a sample of the shells loaded by my friend on his new spolar. I have heard similar accounts just like ShotgunJones.

Jim, I wasn't aware they'd changed the HS 28ga shells either, only that Win had changed from the old AA to the new AA-HS. I've had excellent luck reloading them with Longshot and either the Win AA-HS wads or the Claybuster clones. Plenty of crimp depth. However, I can't get the published formula for Unique to work--insufficient case capacity, from what I've found. No real surprise there, since the difference is a #13 MEC bushing with Longshot, #19 with Unique.
