Dear Sirs,
I could tell in this respect and re . same discussion with this picture from 08.20011 that I checked in information books I have and also at some Russian sites that Geno was right at this gun was produced at soviet - socialist time . I have information that this T at triangle and circle partly around T was stamped after 1928 year .Also I did not read all massages at this two topics but if Geno told that quality of this guns had large fluctuation I could agree with at according information I have from this sources . Also you could read and translate with help of any internet translator programm article re. Tula short guns here -http://www.gunshow.ru/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=70
And also some products in former Soviet Union were not so bad . I have bought 8 years ago IZh26 was produced appr.1970 year and it is not so bad .it have not balance as top models of hand makers but for the real hunting is reliable good quality sxs. I bought it as to feel real side-by-side in hands. best regards Gregoriy

Gregoriy, Thank you for your assistance. I really like my Tula and am working to correct damage from past owners. The gun is very sturdily built, shoots very well, and I expect it to be an excellent field gun. I sent the gun to a gunsmith for modifications, when I get it back in my possession, I'll post photos of the proof marks. I also recently purchased a Russian, Mosin M91/30 built in 1937 at the Izhevsk arsenal. For a mass produced military rifle it certainly is accurate! I'm very pleased with it. Steve

The dealer just sent photos of the markings on the gun. Stamped on the top of both barrels is a triangle with a circle inside. Inside the circle just above the center of the circle is a rectangle (It doess't look like a "T") Any idea what this gun might be?
I don't know how to post pictures so please send me a PM with your email address and I'll forward them to you.

Hi Barry, Click on this link and follow the instructions http://www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=148935#Post148935 , if you run into problems get your children (or grandchildren depending on your age) to help. Kids have no problem with this sort of thing (at least mine don't). Steve

Barry, Here's your pictures. I'm working off an old computer (my good computers being repaired) and this kind of thing is a bit of a PITA so all I'm posting is the proofmark information. I hope this helps. Steve

Dear Sirs,
I am not so skill in this matter of Tula shotguns . But according my opinion this gun 601 could be produced during second wold war . As it have not any marks are mentioned in book I have had a look as producer save capacity by this way and specialy it have five point star is traditional mark for Red ( Soviet ) Army . But is just my impression Also it have not any marks of producer which were before revolution - it was two heads eagle . Re Mosin you are lucky as to find here at my nation this gun in good condition is real problem .Specialy your sample was produced before 2WW and this mean quality have to be higher than production during it .

Best regards Gregoriy

I did buy the gun today. The chokes are: right barrel--.002 (between Cylinder and Skeet) Left barrel--.030 (between Full and Extra Full). The gun weighs 6.6 lb on my digital kitchen scale.
Before I bought it, I shot twice with each barrel at targets from 15 yds to check POI. The right barrel appears to about 60/40 and maybe a couple of inches to the right. Left barrel is about 50/50 and pretty much centered. I then shot a round of skeet. The gun shoots fine, and I'm pleased with the fit and how the Prince of Wales grip feels. I'll try to take more pictures over the weekend.
