I have an A. Allan damascus barreled boxlock with 30" barrels that is my "go to" gun for skeeet. Gets an awful lot of rounds through it. Great gun. Best guess I have is the Allan is like so many other names--action was probably made and barreled by someone like Scott and then Allan may have stocked it. Just a pure wild guess. They do seem to have "made" quite a large number of guns.

Per Joe above, they are whatever Original Quality grade they were made to be as determined by price. You will find Allans in a wide range of grades, probably a few best work SLE's a lot of pedestrian BLE's and a few "farmer/colonial" BLNE guns. It is far more productive to consider the Original Quality grade (OQ) of the individual gun independent of brand name, although Brand Value level (BV), along with Current Condition level (CC) do factor into price.
