By the time I got to know good old Farmer Mr. Green Jeans j0e, all he could do is barely hobble to his deer hide. My brother's old property butted up against his - so he'd let us hunt ducks from his ponds(never his deer tho). All I knew, was that he had a .308 in a Remington 700, and hung his deer in the barn for a week if'n it was colt enuff! He was a good man!

KyBrad3 - The 12 - 2" is more like our 20 - 2 3/4" as it is typically loaded with 7/8 to 1 oz of shot. It was just a compact hull that gave up all cushionig but bare minimum and took advantage of the lower volume of nitro powder.
Oops you are right Rocketman, I skipped blithely right over the 20 gauge, although I probably hesitated to put the 2" 12 gauge in with the 3" 20, since I was probably thinking of the 3" 20 which can and will knock the snot out of you if you aren't expecting it, unlike the sweet shooting 2" 12. However, your point is well made of the equivalency between the typical 2 3/4 20 gauge with 7/8 or 1 oz of shot and the 2" 12 gauge and it makes alot of sense. Thanks, KB

...and whoever heard of the deluxe field grades anyways. What about the smallbore field guns, did dust bowl farmer Brown pick thru his guncabinet for his uppity little quail gun. Don't think so! No need for the bigger 10g., and no need for the puny 410 - If we're talking about working field grades. The 12gauge gun, could only be the real field grade. Field grades...uppity people shot 12's.

What opinions! This was the topic, and not a rebutal. I stated that field grades should be twelve gauges, so, whatever you shoot - is what you shoot. Its a topic - not gospel. Its your turn for opinions and rebutal - thats how it goes!

It don't mean, it just be. Huh, Lowell? However the fine productions of abstract impressionism do require some poking and prodding to find the juice. We could discuss bumper stickers.

It do mean, I'm not bothered by what gauges are shot - but opinions about these gauges make these boards work. You start with a topic, and go on from there. Its either of interest, or it fades. The touchy season comes early I fear!

The touchy season comes early I fear! Season? Always in season, no limits, either.
