A friend called about a M-21 ,12 ga., 26 inch barrel that is rifeled.A first for me in any shot gun M-21 barrels and when I had a FFL and did gunsmithing, I saw quite a few and own four. I have only seen one that was rifled and it was a Galazan double rifle M-21 in .22 long rifle. Any ideas?

Be sure you get a look at that thing and tell us about it. I'm still looking for a cut set of 21 barrels, as short as 10" is OK.

Were both barrels rifled?
Winchester made a few 21s with double rifle barrels. They were 20 gauge guns an had the barrels lined with turned down Model 1895, .405 barrels.

The also made at least one Model 21 with one barrel in 20 gauge and the other in 28 gauge.

Saw the barrels today.Right marked Imp Cyl and left Mod.However, both barrels measure .732 end to end. They are both rifled with a right twist and have 10 lands. The serial is in the high 3000's.The rifeling is rather shallow and has very little pitting.I would rate them to be 90%.First that I have ever seen.

I suspect that it was done aftermarket.

The big question is "Is the outside diameter of the barrels the same as Winchester Model 21 original?" If so, the assumption would be that the rifling was aftermarket cut into shotgun barrels. We would like to hear more about this interesting gun.

My friend says that the guy that he got the barrels from,an older guy, said that the barrels were made/modified for a person in Georgia(the state)a long time ago as the person was a friend of John Olin and Olin had it done for him.Hear say- truth,I do not know.I only know that I have held them and that in my opinion, they are real M-21 barrels. If my friend will come to my home,100 miles,I can measure and compare as I have a M-21 made in 1937,12 ga with 26 inch barrels made for the Navy Athletic Association.BTW this not a gun, just the barrels.
