If Tony used this board as a crutch to help him deal with the cards dealt to him, I hope I did my part providing the support.

I think many here have been forced to recognize that the example of Tony reminds us that all men have a limited time to live. How we live is one thing but how we approach the end is another. Tony was brave and honest at the same time. Never talked to the man, never had the chance to meet him in person, never thanked him for his contributions but I think he knew. I still have all his emails and have read them once again. He knew that all here were pulling for him, all here were hoping for more time and all here knew that in the end time is the one thing we can not get more of.

Salopian has it right "Consider yourself lucky for knowing Tony. I most certainly do." I do.

Salopian, you have let the light in on who Tony really was. Thank you.

I think it's up to the guy who is dying to cope with it however possible. If he's looking for support, that's fine. I've been around death a lot, my wife died with cancer, and it's different strokes for different people. She withdrew, and that was her choice, and the right one for her. I would never disagree with a person who is dying as to his choices of his final days.

He's missed, and that's about the highest compliment anyone can get. Internet and otherwise. I won't be missed except by a few, which is the way the cookie crumbles. He was a good restorer and had knowledge of the art few of us can match.

I've known people who have died in a lot less manly and gracious manner than him. I would like to die with his aplomb, but suspect I won't. My loss.

It should be obvious to us all THAT TONY DID IT AND DID IT WELL! And set for us all a fine example. Requiescat In Pace Tony, You will be missed.

To each his own, I cannot criticize someone for expressing their pain in sickness. It is personal and if I don't want to read it thats my choice, just as it is my choice to read and sympathize.

I do not grudge anyone in the situation the chance to speak their peace.

Death is terribly lonely and nothing in the end can change that.

I agree totally with your views. I am new here but have read the postings of Tony and know of his knowledge of older firearms and and concern for his people left behind has impressed me.
