First, take your gunsmith at his word that he doesn't know much about them and go to someone who does. Revdocdrew's recommendation of Bob Fulton is one who I would second, from personal experience. Bob does amazing things with broken and damaged stocks and is a personal friend of mine. Give him a call.
Strongly agree with what Chuck H. said, above.

Drew

Are there no good doublegun smiths anywhere near MS? Elijay Georgia is like uh, 6 hours by car? Memphis? Birmingham? New Orleans? There are some quite well respected double gun dealers here in MS, but no smiths? Strange...

Have you tried asking the gun dealers where they send their guns for fixing or stock repair?

Best,

Sorry-here's some more options:

Ken Owen in Moscow (east of Memphis) (901) 877-6853

James Flynn Alexandria, LA (318) 445-7130

I have several names in the Carolinas

I have had Bob Fulton do, two side lock guns for me. First rate job. If I need a guy to fix my stocks, it will be Bob. This is based on the very pleasant experience I have had with him and his work.

That's a good idea about asking the double gun dealers where they have their gun work done. Have to ask next time I am at one of them.

Great, thanks for the info Drew.

Thanks very much fellows. I will contact Bob Fulton. I had James Flynn do a complete restoration on an LC Smith probably 10 years ago, and the gun absolutely looked like it was just unpacked from the factory, beautiful work.I didn't know if he was still in business, as he quit advertising in the DGJ some time back Since Bob Fulton is a stock expert, I will give him a try first.
I really appreciate the information.
Arthur
