Has anyone used or owned a RBL with the self opening system? I've been looking at a 20 gauge that has this (gun to primarily be used for hunting). It's not an extra I would normally choose but the gun is basically new and everything else about it is what I'm looking for. Any specific problems with a self opener.

It can be removed if you prefer: RBL assisted opener
Such a long, long time to be gone, and a short time to be there.

It is a good option. Wish I had ordered it on mine. JR

I didn't like it on my 20 gauge but it only took 30 seconds to remove. I am sure I would have gotten used to it if that were the only gun I was shooting but it wasn't. I believe it is based on the assisted opener that Holland and Holland uses.

I ordered the assisted opener on my RBL launch edition. I shot it with the opener installed for doves on opening day the year I took delivery of the gun.
I then removed it for the next days shoot and realized that I had just spent $450.00 for something I didn't like. IMO it's a very expensive accessory trinket.

The upcomming Julia auction has a number of RBLs some with the assisted opening feature. Most are like new.
Good luck,
Mal

No problems. It opens nicely, but on the backside it's a bit of a bother closing the action.
