I was recently given a double 16 gauge shotgun with engraving all over it, I think there were 8 different animals, a hunter behind a tree, and a barn scene.

I have not had anytime to take the pictures of it yet, but if anyone has knowledge of this gun maker...
"L. FORTENBACH...MUNCHEN" I will send pictures to you.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely

Kurt

He was active in the last 1/4 of the 19th Century and peddled edge weapons. I would assume his heir or assign was at the helm when you Franz Jäger variant was made.

I sure do get a kick out of the artwork. The dog holding the roe buck while der Jäger approaches and the rabbits flying in all directions paints a couple of fun pictures. It's nice to see something a little different (with regard to game scenes) every once in a while.

Baumgarten, Henrik Frühauf master engraver in Suhl notes that this tap, tap, tap is the work of an engraver Voelker at either the Franz Jäger concern or possibly at Simson, but I think at Jäger.

Raimey,

Well now I'm going to have to add these hunting scenes, and the cuts that go with, to the list of "works to watch for" wondering if they were typical of this Voelker gentleman. My guess is Henrik would already know this.
