What can anyone tell me about English made HENINWAY hammer type double barrels from the late 1800s ... How do the HEMINWAY guns stack up when compared to gund from Greener, Purdy, Churchill. Tolley, and other fine British doubles ?

Cant find any reference to Heminway! Most likely a gun made for an Ironmonger[ Hardware store/ gunshop]You should be able to determine souce of manufacture from the proof marks,[ Most likely Birmingham ]. Heminway/ Vs; Purdey, would compare as a basic N.A. auto; to a Rolls Royce, assuming both are in good condition and safe working order!

Just guessing: Was there a Hemingway double model made by Beretta?

"Hemingway" model is still made by Vincenzo Bernardelli. Not what you're looking for.

There is an 8 guage on GunBroker with the spelling you give, appears very much overpriced to me. There's also a HEMENWAY offered by Ed Good, our old dealer friend who has his guns "restored" with a gas torch to bring out colors in the actions which he calls case coloring. I would not want that gun at any price, the hot torch can very severely damage the temper of the action.

These appear to be a B'ham gun. As I recall there was a 16 hammer on an auction site that sold for about $400 that Ed1 has now refurbished and relisted on GB site. There was also an 8 ga. Heminway that was on one of the sites for some time. They appear to be reasonable quality pieces based on the Pics, but have no real info on pedigree.
