In modern society it is doubtful what civility truly means.

Individuals read into actions and words from different perspectives. The internet and the written nature of bulletin boards further adds to the likelihood what one writes will not be seen in the light in which it was meant because we either wrote it wrongly or it is read wrongly, but honestly.

I try to accept all are dealing with good intent.

I try to stay positive.

I ignore stuff that bugs me and try to avoid bugging others. I have gotten some remarks on guns I listed that I thought a bit snarky. I ignored them and went on.

That said I am imperfect and have a couple of times said things that are flippant or controversial. None were meant evilly though they may have been seen as that.

I hope I will be forgiven my errors as I forgive others

Rather than plea for civility, let us simple control ourselves and focus on our own actions as we cannot control anyone else�s.

I think the problem is often not with the initial post, but where it ultimately leads. Some folks just must have the last word no matter how many times they have to try to get it; others can't seem to have a differing point of view without resorting to name calling and derogatory comments. JMHO.

I certainly have no desire to be categorized in that manner. I have no problem saying that the inhabitants of this bbs are almost uniformity preening poseurs "collecting" insignificant and abused examples of firearms that few if any would otherwise GAF about, and massively dedicated to the "sow's ear" concept of acquisition enhancement. Whenever I need a laff this is the place I come to. Top of that list are those who post questions and ignore any answer that does not agree w/ whatever erroneous preconception they have already decided to be the case. Sort of the Darwin Awards section of the gun world.

This is a great forum, great info and lots of great people. We can longer ignore the 2nd Amendment/gun rights topic. As Dave was right to do, he recognized this and has allowed the forum to evolve.

I too faced the "ire" of some of the esteemed gentlemen on this board when I first joined. I don't post a lot but some of the responses were rude and condescending. I let it roll off my back, life's too short and I don't let negative people ruin a good time.

I think some of the hatefulness and ornery posts have a lot to do with the current economy.

Also the Holiday Season was just here and if someone is mean spirited by nature, the Holidays will bring out the worst in them, and a BBS is a perfect place to rant and pick fights.

I think the last sentence of gspspinone's post just above makes a lot of sense. Good words.

Oooooh.... I feel so much better now.

I thought it was all about the election... but it was really those manic Holidays!

Let's all join hands and sing Kumbaya...

And wait for Obama to take our double guns away.
