Being unable to resist a odd sight I picked this Receiver and Lyman 34 up on GB. Am I the only one who buys a sight with dreams of someday putting together a rifle around it?

Gary, I built a rifle once, because I found a set of loading dies. Mike

A "friend" of mine sent me some Parker Hale, A G and A J Parker sights. I now have a map file drawer full of their various sights and a gun room full of rifles the go on. My so called friend is now searching for a new idea on which I might obsess.

I had a dream once of building a Krag with a Lyman 34, but other things have taken over. Nice looking, unique sight. Congrats.

Sight Junkie, I contracted the "sight-bug" when I saw a Pacific S1 cut-off sight for the first time. The search was on for what I was calling "clip-on sights" for the 03 - that was any sight that could be installed without drilling holes in the receiver: bolt sleeve sights, cocking piece sights, safety sights and cut-off sights. The search then expanded to any gadget made for the 03 rifle. If you have a sight that was intended to be on an 03 and is not in this picture please describe or post a picture. I would love if any of you with drawers full rifle sights would post pictures. I doubt that I have an example of all and would really appreciate the opportunity to expand my information and knowledge. Gary Bush

Gary,
Nick Strobles Book tells me that the Marbles Goss sleeve sight replaced the entire bolt sleeve. The MG I bought didn't have a bolt sleeve but seems to fit very nicely onto the 1903 bolt sleeve.
Did they make them both ways? Some of yours look like the sight and bolt sleeve are one piece while the three in the top row of the photo look more like mine.

Garyg, The first two sights in the third row from bottom from the left are Goss bolt sleeve sights and each is representative of different stage of development. Neither has a functional safety and the windage knob is on the right side of windage bar. The third sight in that same row is a Marble's Goss bolt sleeve sight. I have not seen a Goss or Marble's Goss bolt sleeve sight as Mr. Stroebel described in his book All that I have seen fit onto the bolt sleeve. That may have been an error in Mr. Stroeble's book.
