Let me know if that client hates that hideous light-colored stock and simply can't live with it. Truly lovely work Dig.

William Evans was a gun shop; still is. Evans guns were made in the trade to order. Your screw grip gun will almost certainly have been made entirely by Webley and supplied as ordered.

Dig, thanks for information about my Evans pair. It is a high condition cased pair of stocked to the fences sidelock crossover guns. They are my "shooting guns" and are very nice, and original with 15 3/4" stocks.

Dig,

Nice work and an attractive rifle. I agree that a little more alkanet root would have served the stock well.

I have a similar rifle from 1905. It's a .450NE, an A&W-C 1st, branded as George Gibbs, but Webley's work altogether.

The rifle you restored is a PHV-1, as undoubtedly you know.

Good work,
Curl

Eightbore,
I'm sure your pair are sweet.I was just curious as to your choice of cross over stocked guns?, Injury, bad eye???.
I have seen a couple of those snaky stocks,,,but how & why do you use them, If you don't mind me asking?
This is like shooting from the right shoulder, but having the rib under the left master eye, or vice versa, right?
I have never heard you mention this before...were you messing with the "my shooting Guns" bit ?....honestly curious
cheers

Franc, I shoot crossover guns for everything. I have had a big inoperable blind spot in my right eye for quite some time. My crossover guns are a Parker PHE trap and pigeon gun, a Parker VH rain gun, the Evans pair, a Cogswell and Harrison Avant Tout, 682 Beretta and Krieghoff competition guns. I'm as well equipped as a blind man could be. Yes, the Evans are my new favorite shooting guns for sporting. After 102 years of inactivity, they need to be broken in. The Webley screw grips are a real piece of work. Bill Murphy
