Hi gents, need some help identifying this Damascus pattern...of all the patterns I've looked at the only one that bares some resemblance is one called Bernard Starburst.
Was wondering what the experts in the topic have to say, any help would be appreciated

Thanks

CJ

I've not heard of 'Bernard Starburst', nor have I ever seen a Bernard pattern on a Greener nor any other British gun. Please post a pic or link to an image.

A 'Browned' example refinished by Paul Stevens very similar

Is it a Greener? Grade? Year?

Thanks Drew
Yes, it is a Greener, 1899 Unique ejector patent G2 made for the French market with 27" bbls.
I'm trying to find the Bernard reference but I'm not able to, can't remember where I saw it...I'll have to look again.

This is an 1895 Vintage Greener bbl that I refinished. It is also a "Laminated Steel" and has near the same pattern.

Leighton: you sent me that image and the barrels are not 'Silver' laminated steel. Interestingly, they demonstrate a clear transition between the thicker breech segment and the mid-barrel segment

This is your refinish also, and probably is 'Silver' laminated steel, but possibly an earlier variant

Drew, YOu are right, my illustration barrel was an earlier 1881 Hammergun and not the 1895 Hammerless that I thought it was initially.
