Hey all. I borrowed my buddys citori and smashed 90% of the sporting clays I pointed it at. This would tell me that the POA was just right. We measured the DAC where my cheek mounted/touched the stock (did several times) and it was an 1 5/8".

So....can I now adjust all my ribbed guns so my cheek rests at 1 5/8" and expect the same POA?

Don.

Don, I don't think it is quite that simple, it'd be nice if it were. There are numerous other factors to take into account. Among them (but far from complete) would be:

Amount of cast off or on
Angle of the comb line
Thickness of the comb
Pitch
Shape and location of the hand (wrist)
MOI of the gun
Positioning of the rib

I don't think gun fitting has ever been reduced to a science but is considered to be more of an art though the "science" is a good starting point.

Reason is, I have a citori lightning 20ga. I would like to get to the same accuracy with. I was thinking of in stalling an adjustible comb from Gracoil. I'm a lefty, so it would help in that case also.

The stock on the lightning is quite hollowed out, so the adj. comb install may not be so easy either.

I shoot them the way they come, unless I am shooting for money. That isn't so much these days.

Comb and point of impact are not the same. Take the borrowed gun and shoot it for point of impact on a pattern plate. Then build up your 20 to the same height and see if it is the same. Comb height is one out of many things that you need to consider. If it alone was the single most important thing adjustable stocks would have only one direction for adjustment instead of a dozen.

Good point Jon.

Funny thing, the gun was professionally 'fit' for him. He's 6'2", I'm 5'3". He's a righty, and the gun is cast off. I'm a lefty, and shot it lefty. His LOP was 15 1/2", I had to pre mount cause the gun would get caught under my armpit from low gun.

Nonetheless, the beads lined up in a perfect figure eight, and I never shot that well...ever. Never even shot sporting clays before. Even hit the 'bird and a bit' when I felt like it. Hit all the rabbits, even bouncing ones...time after time. Even shot both eyes open...yes both eyes!

Worst part is, he won't sell me the gun! Well he did say for ten grand it was mine frown

Guess the above, further proves your point Jon.

Thanks guys.

Don.

Seems to me all you need to do is buy a used Citori - it should have the same everything if it's for a righty and just add a recoil pad to get the LOP. Could do it all for around a grand. Paul

No dal that's the best part. Once you've bought a gun like that it will turn on you in a moments notice and you won't be able to hit didly with it. Trust me.....I know.......

I'm starting to think it was the mid bead! All I need is one of those installed.....and I'll be good : )

Can't hit didly squat with my lightning right now. Have to get it to the range asap.
