My brother has a heavy 8 bore double rifle. A friend of mine also has an 8 bore. I have a 10 bore rifle. On all three of the rifles the sights are not in alignment with the center of the rib. The heavy 8 bore (brass case) and my 10 bore have the rear sight to the left of the center line of the rib. The other 8 bore has the front sight offset to the right. The offset is about 90 thousandths on my 10 bore. It is very noticeable on each rifle. (more so on the 8 bore brass case rifle with 22" barrels). The rifles have lines scribed on the sights and rib to check alignment and on all of them the scribes line up. Is this misalignment done to offset the heavy recoil of these rifles?

They were probably "shot in" by filing the sights to the regulation at the factory range. Does it shoot straight when using the sights as they are? sTeve

LD1 - I'd suggest you ask this question in the forum a couple more down from this one. Go back to the menu and see the 4th forum down entitled DOUBLE RIFLES, PARADOX GUNS AND GAUGE RIFLES.

There are a lot of guys there who never frequent this forum, which is dedicated to double shotguns primarily. My guess is that you'll find there are a few guys who own a gauge rifle like yours who'll be able to answer your question with knowledge and experience.
