Anyone know what this skeleton butt plate is from. I recall seeing one like it before but cannot remember where. It is 5 1/16 long x 1 5/8 wide, the remainder of the stock attached is nicely figured English walnut.  
I learn something every day, and a lot of times it's that what I learned the day before was wrong

I am pretty sure it is from a prewar (WWI) J. P. Sauer & Son Gun. I have a 16 ga. 18E that has the exact same plate. I am too dumb to post a photograph on these sites. I have tired a few times and always failed, so that is that. I can e-mail you a photo if you would like.

Here are two skeleton buttplates along with a cutoff stock section missing thebuttplate that I received from Oscar Gaddy many years ago. The engraved one came off a high grade Fox. I never saw the gun so I don't know the grade.   Chris
