I was watching the Julia Auction today. There was a very plain Army Navy under lever hammer .500 BPE that was sold. It was in beautiful original condition and sold for about $33,000 including commission. Am I missing something here? I would have never thought that a border engraved BPE hammer double rifle from a lower tier seller would bring that much money at auction.

It's an auction, and this is what they hope for. Only takes two people to push it up.

The opposite can happen as well. The Parker AAHE Pigeon went for about $17k, probably about half of what it is worth.

Does anybody know what the H&H 28b Royal went for?

The H&H 28 Bore Royal went for $55,000.00. That would mean a total cost of around $63,250.00. The auction estimate was $40,000.00 to $60,000.00

One could of course have just ignored these El-Cheapo double guns & outbid whom ever bought the Wedding Ring Kim Kardashian's Ex put up which ended at a mere $620,000, with Buyer's Premium pushing it to around $749,000.

How about lot 1198 a Holland hammer paradox slated to sell at 40k?

I watched that paradox and I didn't see any bids for it. All of a sudden it was gone. I didn't think that it sold, but it showed up later as having been sold for $25,000.00 That would be a very reasonable ( maybe somewhat low) price for that gun.
