Gentlemen,

I recently purchased a .300 WM SxS double rifle marketed by Flaig's back in the 1970s.
My gun was proofed in 1970 and built by Ludwig Borovnik of Ferlach, Austria.
Barrels are approx. 24 ". Does anyone have any idea what bullet weight was used to regulate these rifles...150 gr or 180 gr or ???

Any information about the rifle is greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Joe V.

The proof marks on the underside of the barrels should reveal the load weight and bullet type. The mantra here is, post pictures and let the experts decipher! Borovnik is one of the most well-known makers in Ferlach. Should be a well made, well regulated gun...Steve

While older German Guns had the duty bullet indicated, and still older ones showed proof load(bullet and powder)modern guns usually show only caliber( this is Austrian, however).I agree with Skeettx on the other thread, that the most likely load would be 180 gr. if it was built for "stock".If it was made to order, it would have been regulated to the ammo specified by the customer. If Borovnik has the records, it would still be necessary to test it, because there are differences between European and American ammo.American ammo may, or may not regulate. If you handload, you are likely to find a load that "regulates"anyway.
