Benjamin Edwards worked for William Lee of Lancaster Street, Birmingham. In 1887 he established his own business at 48 1/2 Newton Street, Birmingham. It has been suggested that he occupied additional premises at 283 (?) Newton Street in about 1894 but this has not been confirmed. In about 1897 he occupied additional premises at 28 1/2 Newton Street.
Benjamin died in about 1900 and his son Benjamin Edwards Jnr took over moving the business to 50 1/2 Newton Street, this address was confirmed from 1904 to 1924. From 1925 to 1928 the business traded as Benjamin Edwards (Representatives), from 1929 to 1936 when it closed, it traded as Benjamin Edwards.
