I recently purchased a shotgun brand Browning Side Lock (BSL) model LC2 to a auction in Austria, 12 gauge and the 918CS01060 number.

I've tried to learn many searches and requests for help in various specialized forums to know what year of production and still can not.

I know that "918" sets the 12 gauge.
These weapons initiated each year with the number 1000 and so this was 60 that year.
I admit that the letters "CS" set the year of production, but I can not get this information.

Can anyone help?

If you want to enjoy can see it on my collection site: http://armasfinas.blogs.sapo.pt/ and

Here are the Belgian proof marks with the date code for all guns proofed in Belgium.

Still confused? Post pictures of the proof marks.

Hello Luistc,

You have MANY beautiful shotguns !!
Thank you for sharing smile

All I found was this

http://www.browning.com/customerservice/dategun/detail.asp?id=26

I did call Glen Jensen, The Browning Historian but he now only works Monday through Wednesday.

The BSL was only made from 1983 to 1987.

I will try again next week BUT the proof marks should tell all.

Please post a picture like this

Mike

Thanks Mike for the info.

The gun is in transit from Austria to Portugal so I can not paste a picture like this. I admit I have marks and letters can complete production date through them using the Belgian table.

Do not follow this option because Browning usually has the dates of production and identified by its serial number. In this case the BSL Lebeau Courally which is a shotgun produced recently, it was a surprise not to find the serial number on the documents published by Browning.

If talking with your friend Glen Jensen, you may be able to help and I'm already very grateful.

Thank you.
Luis
