Hi Forum,

I am curious for more information on Miller & Val Greiss. Were they actual gun makers or were they a storefront that put their name on Suhl makers guns or both?

They seem to have carried some high quality guns. Here is the only one I have in 9.3x72r x 16x16.

Kevin,
Can you post photos of all marks on the underside of the barrels, as well as any on the water table and breech face.Be sure to look inside the recess for the doll's head, if there is one.Miller & Val Greiss mainly dealt in other makers guns, but may have finished out actions/barrels from others.

Kevin,
I didn't see any mark that would ID the actual maker, but did notice the barrels(at least the shot barrels)seem to have been made by Schilling Forge.Since they supplied multiple makers, this isn't much help.It was made between 1893 and 1912, and in my experience, the bore diameter shown as 118.35ga, usually goes with a groove diameter of around .358-.359", which makes finding bullets easy.

Thanks Mike. I am fairly familiar with German guns but I am somewhat stumped on the possible maker. I was hoping by the shape of the action, someone may make some plausible guesses.

Thanks,

KC

Here are a couple more. This is a funeral model I guess. There is no engraving just gold outline in certain areas.

Ford is correct on the scattergun tubes as being from the Schilling forge with possibly 2 different tasks. The lower solid projectile tube has the jagged encircled K with Axel gives as Klett while Dietrich has given it as Kelber.

Kind Regards,

I find this "funeral" decoration very elegant.

With kind regards,

Thanks. It's choked mod/full so can be effectively used for birds.

I guess the only way to identify a possible maker is to keep my eyes open for a similar design. Does anyone know if MVG had any particularly favorite vendors?
