Or just buy an early Porsche S. Recently sold mine and tripled my money in 10 years. Lowest maintenance of any car I've ever owned, but it was a primadonna and never out in the rain or snow, toy car. Gotta wait a long time for cars to go up in value. Although the Enzos' are dropping like flies, so as they wreck them the pristine ones just keep going up, up , up. Ferrari's are one of the few cars that will bust a million dollars though. The 308 crowd will be waiting a long time I'm afraid.

My new doctor relative just sold his older sheltered Porsche at a loss - the guy(buyer) had hot cash in hand and the pristine SuperBee deal didn't happen.

My 308 will not increase in value other than with inflation (if I am lucky). People buy 308's to drive and to enjoy - not to watch them increase in value. That is what a Daytona 365 GTB/4 is for. I still regret not purchasing one two years ago when they were $120K. Now they are $300K.
Back on topic, I am still looking forward to the inspection of the Purdey Monday. Alfred is only an hour away from me so I plan to visit him to inspect the gun. I also have an A grade Fox I want him to look at.

At the last Concours I participated in, the 308 guys didn't get on the green-the "real" Ferrari guys said they didn't have 12s and weren't "real" Ferraris!
Made me wonder how I got in with a 1971 Olds W-30 model 442. Did take best in class, however... Best, Ted

Now that we know your background as a player, you really should step-up to the Purdey price plate. Have your man check out the gun for sure - pass, and go to Lewis Drake's Curio Shop! Its one-stop Purdey shopping at its best!

Back several years ago when I was in my 4 wheeled toy period, I owned a 911 Porsche Targa and an XJ6 with a much warmed over 400 cu in Chevy. The Jag was the fastest thing between gas pumps.

I have visited Drake's website. I got weak in the knees just looking at his guns. I fell in love with the 28 gauge Purdey they have for sale, but the case alone is $25K!!!

I remember seeing the kits for sale from "Broken Kitty" to install Chevy V8s in Jags. Looked like a lot of fun, and, danger to the points on a guys driving privledges. My 1971 442 went down the road in favor of a much more "polite" 1967 442 (automatic, air, 3:08 gears) that is just more fun for a guy to be in. Left the local Olds clubs show last summer at a few minutes before noon, with the temp at 100 and humidity near tropical, to the sweating envy of the convertable muscle set. Give me an A6 compressor full of R12 over outside air induction any day of the week.
I hope you intend to use the Purdey. I know of at least a few that haven't seen sunlight in a generation. Best, Ted

Ted:
I plan to use the Purdey every chance I get. As I stated earlier, I am purchasing this gun as a shooter and field gun. It will not be sitting unused in a closet.
