Was getting my gear together for the opener today and noticed #1 of the pair I was going to shoot had a small section of rust where the rib meets the barrel. This is the second time I've noticed it since early June. In both cases, it cleaned up fine with a little Hoppes and a Q-tip. Barrels still ring true. My storage conditions haven't changed so I must have missed something in late February when I cleaned it up for the season.

First question, how do I stop this seepage? Is this an early indication that relaying the rib is necessary?

Second, what's the worst that could happen if I shot it….a popped rib?

Any feedback appreciated including someone to relay the rib if needed. If it matters, it's a 12b Arrieta 802. Thanks.

Matt
