I have a hard leather takedown case that I'm trying to modify a bit to better fit my double gun. The case does have a strap around the wrist to hold the receiver in place but it still moves around quite a bit. I do have some very close celled foam to use but I need the wool/felt to cover the padding with. It's a very dark olive green color. I have checked out all the local outlets up to 50 miles from home with no luck. I also checked with the outfit where I bought the case but had no luck there either. I don't want the case to look like Chuckles the Clown's suitcase when I open it with a bunch of mismatched colors. I would be very grateful for any and all help/direction in finding what I'm looking for. Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Try the local billiard hall for some pool table felt.

You mentioned local outlets, but visit your local fabric stores and see what's in stock. You would be surprised what you can find. I had a couple of FabArm Emebbi cases with dark blue velvet lining (looked like a gangsters coffin) and found a near-exact match at a local place that does drapery.

You mentioned a dark, olive green color. If you find the right texture of felt in the more typical bright green, try darkening it with a soak in black coffee. It will probably shrink as it dries, so cut the felt after you get the color you want.

Vern I know that you did say you want to obtain wool felt if this is to match the internal covering of your case you may have a colour match problem any way. Usually the internal cloth used on cases is wool baize because it is hard wearing and not prone to fraying like felt. Though if it is felt that you want e bay is a good place to look also handicraft suppliers because a lot of it is used to make childrens felt toys and it is usually available in various sizes and many colours.

if you want a piece with a color match you might check your local area for a billiards-pool table recovering service and seeing if you can buy some left over pieces.

the "felt" used for covering tables is (although there are different grades) what they call baize in the UK, not a felt in the normal sense

Just a short note to let you all know that I do appreciate all the input you all gave me. Although the search is not over. I just don't want you all to think that I place a post here and never follow up with those of you try to help. Again, thank you.

I've found that good quality wool Melton coating fabric makes an excellent case lining material. Slightly thicker than billiard baize, a fuller nap, and available at most large retail fabric stores.
