What you could suggest for 1 year pointing dog, what is the best on the market today? Actually I'm not going to use e-colar all the time, beeper mostly, but young dog got some bad habits such as running behind small birds and very far away. My persuasions and strap got no effect on him - too healthy and too smart dog thou

Geno, I just went thru this and asked everyone I could that had done this already. Two brands came up as good equipment: Tritronics and Dogtra. One friend said he had an Innotek and it was not durable and reliable. There are others, but Tritronics is what I eventually bought. I've been satisfied with its reliability and durability.

Geno,
My cousin and I have Dogtra for several years. No problems for either of us. One of the GSP's tried to chew the collar off the other and it still works fine.

I can't say enough good things about Dogtra--a great product and excellent customer service. Good luck. JK

Sportdog. I had done some research on the different collars, Dogtra, Innotex and Tritronics were all looked at. I came to like the way the Sportdog was made. I can have the e-collar on with the beeper, or just the beeper or just the e-colloar. A lot of them it is all one piece, cannot take the beeper off. Beeper is also controlled by the remote. The model I got was the 1850, priced like the rest, around $380.00. Their bark collar only weighs 1.5 oz. compared to Dogtras which is about 3 times the size and weight.

Being rather new to owning a dog after nearly 30 years of living in a two-bedroom condo in the DC area, I went with the Innotek TT-100A that all of my hunting buddies out here use and have been very pleased. Probably the best price on them is from Lion Country Supply in Pennsylvania. The little controller hanging from a lanyard around my neck is much better then those big belt holster models my dog buddy back east had. I also prefer using the lithium batteries and just replacing as needed instead of having to mess with a charger. I'm through two seasons now and I'm on the third battery in the collor and still on the first in the controller.

There are many complaints about other brands, but Dogtra consistently gets good reviews. I think there is one called the 2000 T&B (trainer and beeper). Also check you http://www.uplandjournal.com and do a search for Training and beeping coller, lots of good advice there.

I certainly recommend DT Systems collars. The have performed exceptionally well for me. When my old one wore out they gave me $150 credit towards any new model. I have a double collar without beeper, but it is fantastic in keeping my German Shorthairs under control. Check them out: http://www.dtsystems.com.Jim

I have a Dogtra 2000 T&B and it works great, Ive had it for almost 2 yrs, batteries last a long time per charge. I have had some friends have trouble with the Innotek and their customer service left something to be desired so I would go with Dogtra or Tritronics, both make great products and have very good customer service. Last season I replaced my very old Tritonics unit with a DT 1850 http://www.dtsystems.com/products/H2O1800.aspxBoth the transmitter and collar are rechargable and I really like the 'locator' function. Now if I could only hear well enough to pick up the sound coming from somewhere in the next 640
