Howdy folks. First, thanks to all who participated in the "Help needed on pressures of modern loads" thread. I've followed it daily and learned a great deal. Thank you. Now here's my question for all you Sterlingworth afficianados. I have two 16's, both Philadelphia guns: ser. no. 350xxx has 26-in. bbls, and ser. no. 364xxx has 30-in. bbls. #364xxx has short chambers, which is what I'd expect. #350 has 2 3/4-in. chambers, and 2 3/4 is stamped on the barrel flats. Reckon it left the factory with 2 3/4-in. chambers? How often do you see that? Thanks. JK

A 1913 gun almost certainly left the factory with 2 9/16" chambers. Guns sent to Savage for repair after they acquired the Fox Co. in 1929 had the short chambers lengthened and stamped 2 3/4".
And coool guns-have you joined the 16ga Society yet?

Agree with Drew. That 350 SN gun is one of the very earliest SW 16's, and I'd bet its chambers got punched somewhere along the line. Not even certain there were 2 3/4" 16ga shells in 1913.

Me too, especially since it's stamped on the flats. I'd bet they've been lengthened by Savage or somebody else.
