New Years Day usually brings a boring day of sitting around eating and watching football. I needed a change so I set out to spice it up by visiting a local collector who was thinning out the herd. My goal was to evaluate some graded Parkers that I had my eye on during previous visits. The Parkers all had one issue or another and were quite expensive considering the various issues that I mention. Towards the end of my visit this collector pulled out some Holloway (Birmingham) Boxlock sxs's that just felt terrific, shouldered well, right dimensions, right chambers and chokes. I could not resist so I decided to buy both 12ga & 20ga guns, not a consecutive pair but not far off. So I finally detoured from the American classics after quite a few years! Haven't shot the newbies yet but should by end of weekend. One of the best New Years Day!
