Sure, you just want to figure out if the blue job was a hot dip before you remove it and begin bringing back the damascus. Sometimes the salts in the hot blue causes the barrels and ribs to come undone...Geo

Re-browning or black and white damascus finish is a bit of a job. Several here are expert at it though. Someone will advise...Geo

If it's the only set you want refinished, send it to a professional. Unless you want to re-do your barrels three or four times. It's well worth it to have it done.

I prefer wood to plastic, leather to nylon, waxed cotton to Gore-Tex, and split bamboo to graphite.

Refinishing damascus can be a bit involved to do it properly. If your gun is in fair condition otherwise, and you have zero experience at this, then I would send the barrels away to be refinished by someone who does this on a regular basis. If on the other hand the gun is a wall hanger, then you perhaps may want to try it.

rva, your cap-lock may be stuck, but some here consider all caps as shouting. You may get better information if you type little...Geo

Here are some great examples of restored Damascus barrels from the Parker Gun Collectors Association web site -- http://parkerguns.org/forums/showthread.php?t=13108
