Edward Laytham was an in-house engraver for Ithaca between Joy Loy and Bill McGraw. (there were others contemporary with him, Rogers, Clance, Runge, topics for a later post)
Ed was apprenticed under Harry Gough as did Loy. Here is an example of his work. The gun is not signed but was attributed to him by R. Runge Jr. who said Laythem was fussy about his lettering and scribed lines to contain his letters. These lines are visible. The gun is a Quality 5 Minier model ejector gun. Interesting how similar his scroll work is to Loy's at this time anyway. Laytham's dogs are a bit more leggy then his predecessor.
