I've used both Strosin and Gournet. They are both outstanding. Gournet uses hammer/chisel and Strosin a Powergraver.
PS. Both crank out the work pretty darn quickly and both are super super guys.

Charles Lee in Ione, CA. He was Purdey's house engraver for a long time and does excellent work, reasonably. He recut a Rare Harry Kell Purdey for me, and it was magnificent. I have heard a rumor that he's moved back to England, but if he's still here, he's a great choice.

Looks like I have a few choices. I'll try to talk to a few of them and then decide. Incidentally, I did call Adams and Adams, and they said that they were not interested due to the fact that it was an old gun. He said most of their work consists of new guns or newer. I do appreciate the honesty, I wouldn't want someone working on it if they weren't comfortable doing so.

Thanks, Steve. I just talked to Dale, and i didn't think to ask before we finished the call. A shame. He was excellent with reasonable turnaround and very reasonable prices.

Another vote for Bob Strosin. But lets not forget mc . A member of the board here. Mark has done some very impressive restoration work on english and American guns. Mark and Bob are very good engravers but they don't shoot as well as me and they only catch small fish!!! http://www.fega.com/membership/PhDetReg.asp?idparam=17&recidparam=111
