I am looking to buy fair price on a Charlin SxS sliding breech in 12 ga. Condition is very good, there is minimal engraving and mechanism is solid. Wood also has no problems. What would be a fair offer to make?

I own a Charlin, and even the most utilitarian grade in good condition would be a bargain at 1K, in my opinion.
The grades of a Charlin are denoted by the number of Rabbits, Stars, or Birds stamped on them.
At least some are, and there may be other symbols used that I have not seen.
As soon as I think I have found a pattern to French Guns, I find an exception.

Smallbores carry more of a premium, although there are plenty of sliding breech 16's out there. I was ready to pay $800 for a very plain Charlin 16 in nice condition 20 years ago--and that was in France.

Tell us, or better, show us the proof marks on the barrel flats and we can be a bit more precise.

What would you pay for this one? Sub bore (16 gauge) Skeet and full, 2 1/2" chambers. LC-1 grade, entry level. I've never been able to guess on a price for something (like a gun) that I can't see. Mr. Carney is on the right track with pictures and proof marks, but, the story isn't as simple as that, and not as simple as grading and estimating value on most Darnes- as if that were simple. With a little more information we can get into it a bit further. Best, Ted

All those pedophile priests who have committed their sexual INFAMITAS upon the little innocent ones entrusted to their care. Hitler, Goering, Himmler, Eichmann, Heydrich, Mussolini, Stalin, Po Pet, all those of their ilk=already roasting in Hades, sans heads I hope- Sort of especially poetic about beheading, as those SS/Gestapo goons wore the "TotenKopf" skull and crossbones insignia on their caps. Now about Judith and Holoferenes, the drunken King in the B.C. era, not sure sure if Jesus would have punished the old rummy King with that severe a penalty, or not. Who (not whom here) can say??
