Powder Comparison

..BULK. .DENSE..
.............E.C.......DuPontSchultze Walsrode Green....BallistiteInfallible

3 Dram....42...........36.5..............42................30.....24..............21 grains
3 1/4...45.5.........41.................45................32.....26..............23 grains
3 1/2...49............43.................48................34.....28..............25 grains

The original Schultze & E.C. No. 1 Bulk Smokeless were 14 grains/drachm.
New Schultze & New E.C.(Improved) No. 2 Bulk Smokeless were 12 grains/drachm.
E.C. No. 3 was 11 grains/drachm or 33 grains = 3 Dr. Eq.

In the 1928 edition of Smokeless Shotgun Powders, Wallace Coxe reported 3 1/2 Dram Eq. 1 1/4 oz. loads:
DuPont Bulk Smokeless powder - 11,700 psi LUP
Schultze Bulk Smokeless powder - 11,800 psi LUP
28 grains of Ballistite - 12,600 psi LUP = possibly 13,750 by piezo numbers
40 grains of DuPont Oval Progressive Burning powder - 9,400 psi LUP
(Oval appears to be 11 grains/dram)
Note: Pressures are WELL beyond the modern SAAMI recommendation of 11,500 psi.
