OP bonny Sidelock Joined: Aug 2013 Posts: 388 Likes: 1 Dublin	I watched a few videos on youtube showing gunmakers, like H&H, Purdey, etc finishing guns. One video show an action being inked to show up the engraving, the excess wiped off and the action lacqued. Anyone know what lacquer is used ?

Dries in a few hours to a thin finish and is durable. Does not fill in the engraving. I use it frequently on actions and barrels. John McCain is my war hero.

I use this,, I dampen a piece of clean flannel and apply by simply wiping over the metal. Does everything Joe says it does. Makes a good stock finish too dispite many nay-sayers.

I prefer a 1/4 or 3/8" wide artist brush for the action, much easier to get into nooks and crannies. John McCain is my war hero.
