Hello all esteemed DR experts. I am brand new to this forum, but I'm seeking advice and assistance as I've started looking for my first double rifle.
First off, I am in Ontario, Canada, so finding something in Canada would be preferred (between currency exchange, shipping, import fees, taxes, duties, etc., a "good deal" from the U.S. can quickly become not such a good deal). I'm looking for a used .470, and the makes I'm interested in are Heym, Searcy, Chapuis or VC, and possibly Merkel. If any forum members from Canada know of something available up here, I'd appreciate hearing about it. I'm also open to any other suggestions. I've been looking for some time now up here, and have not found anything available along the lines of what I'm looking for.
Thank you in advance.

Hi mate, Welcome to the board. I don't have any myself, but we can dream...eh? What's your price range?, & are you looking for new, used, or vintage ? That might help with some answers, good luck franc

Thank you.
Not vintage. I was hoping to keep it to about $10K, perhaps a little more for a used Heym or a new VC or Chapuis.

A nice used Chapuis in 9.3x74r is fine moose medicine. Many available used, 2 barrel sets, light to heavy engraving.
Well proven, and good looking.
Out there doing it best I can.

Well proven, and good looking. For sure, but it's fine Cape Buff medicine I'm looking for, and I'm pretty set on .470. Thank you, though.

There are Chapuis' in 470 as well. If you are going into the DR category, ask member Roscoe Stephenson (Capt Curl) for his opinions. Heym's are stout, but I consider them too plain for an investment grade (or at least cost), double rifle. I shot hogs out to 250 yds with the Chapuis DR. Very satisfied. Rolled them like boulders. On the mountain with my friend.
Out there doing it best I can.

Nick Makinson is a Gunmaker over in Kamoka, ON, he has made double rifles and I think had a 470 when I was there a couple months ago. Very nice gentleman, he may know of some for sale as well
