This picture is from the RBL update page. The barrels are in the white but the engraved portions (barrel wedges, words etc.) are burnt or rusted looking? How are they engraving them such that they look like that before bluing?

Are they using the same method on the rest of the gun?

How do you remove the brown from the engraving cuts without dulling the sharpness of the cuts?

Dip them just like you would to remove hot blue would be my guess. Wouldn't want to buff it off I don't think.

Nitric acid will also take off that black in a second.

I have seen the "cuts" and don't think they have any "sharpness" to dull. The "engraving" was one of the reasons I cancelled my order. I'd sooner have a RBL in the white than that stuff. I'd still be waiting on my 9/28/05 deposit order.

Apparently, CSMC has refused all requests for unengraved guns.

I wouldn't even call it engraving, wouldn't laser etched scroll or laser burned scroll be a more descriptive term. To say it is engraving is misleading and an insult to true engravers who spent many hundreds of hours creating a masterpiece. AND before anybody says it I KNOW I KNOW I KNOW you wouldn't get it at this price point........

and yes there are several guns in my collection which unfortunately do have etched, stamped, rolled, pressed "fake" engraving.
