Does anyone know any shotguns producer with this system in London and has two screws holding the sidelock being one crosses the weighbridge and secure the two locks?

I appreciate if someone give me this information and if possible photos with this evidence.

Purdey does. www.purdey.com, 44-20-7499-1801. Very nice article in July/August "Shooting Sportsman" magazine, page 84 by Terry Allen.

Hope that helps.

Thank You Rocketman, I do not have access to this magazine. Can you give a summary of the main ideas?

I just checked the Purdey web site and they do make the Beesley action SXS. They note that it is little changed since 1880.

The magazine article is a photo essay on the remodeled Purdey workshop. It covers the modernization in 12 interesting, high quality photos with well written side-bars.

I think you will find this plate is to retain the extractors rather than the usual screw . Dickson Round Action guns use a similar idea but with a single pin as the extractor legs are wider apart .Is the gun in question built as an ejector or is it a conversion ?

According to a responsible and expert on the subject (Vintage Guns), reads as follows:

"It looks very like a Purdey. It is the Beesley system. However, it appears to have been made as a non-ejector and converted to ejector."

The answer is yes, it is a conversion.

Is this the same gun you featured in a previous post that was neither a Beesley or a Purdey by serial number?

Both Churchill and Robertson/Boss did ejector conversions to early Beesley/Purdey extractor Guns before and after the Wem ejector was offered by Purdey. I have never examined either conversion. There may have been others who I am not aware of that performed this work.

If this is the same gun as the xxxx number gun you delighted us with before, I don't think Purdey after the time the Wem was offered, and Beesley/Purdey extractor guns were converted to the Wem ejector, would have brought the gun into the factory. Oh my! mad

Do you think the shiny metal loops are a recent replacement for an older original part? How well do the ejectors work?

It's nice to have a real mystery!
