A local shop has a Forehand Arms (no Wadsworth) 12 gauge double barrel. The barrels are damascus and the bores look good but with some dirt. The receiver has some engraving at the "corners" and such as in not full coverage. The makers markings are on the opening lever and are something like Forehand Arms Worcester, Mass. The stock has some amount of figure in it but unfortunately, there are two screws and nuts through the wrist area to hold it all together. Neatly done but they do not belong there. What do you folks figure the value might be? Sorry, no pics.

Unless in exceptionally high original condition or a very high grade --

not much.

The company began in 1865 as E. Allen & Co. From 1871 to 1890 it was Forehand & Wadsworth, and from 1890 to 1902 Forehand Arms Co. The hammerless double was introduced by Forehand Arms Co. in 1892, and made in four grades -- 0, 1, 2 and 3. Forehand Arms Co. was taken over by Hopkins & Allen Arms Co. by 1902 and H & A marketed the doubles for a couple of years as the "New Forehand." From the 1902 H & A catalogue --

By 1908 they had simplified the profiling of the receivers a bit were calling them the Hopkins & Allen Hammerless Double Gun.

Thanks for the responses. It does not have as much engraving as the one pictured in Researchers post. The shop kind of hinted at $200 which is about what I thought it might be worth. I'll try and get some pictures.
