Kreighoff uses Birchwood Cases lead rag on their silver finished recievers. It does a great job of cleaning but does not appear to remove metal.

RAS...yes, that looks lovely mate....I personally love that time worn grey silver look.
If you ever have it at a Gunsmith who knows how to take off locks & has a sonic tank...you might be surprised at how clean it comes out after a bath...but it sure looks nice just the way it is

It's in excellent condition Franc, I've only test fired it a few rounds, but everything seems great. I'm interested in seeing the inside of the locks (gold washed?), but I don't have the right screwdriver, and like the finish, it's best to not mess with things and leave well enough alone.
I don't know anyone in my neck of the woods I'd trust with it, but there's an excellent gunsmith near Roanoke VA where my brother lives, originally from Ferlach Austria and works on some real high end stuff. Next time I'm up that way I might let him take a look and see if he can clean it.

Be careful with the Birchwood Casey wipes. They work wonders on removing lead and powder fouling from stainless steel revolvers, but are supposedly rough on bluing.

RAS, my Lovena is gold washed. Somewhere I have a write up on a bit of Lovena history. When I do lay my hands on it I'll post it. Being from Canada, I don't scour Guns International as much as I might but had I seen that one I would have thought long and hard. Would still like to see the barrel markings.

Here's the barrel markings: I wonder if the stacked "F" & "A" near the flats is any indication of the manufacturer, but haven't been able to find anything. There's also a "JD" stamped in the lower right of the picture which could also be who made the barrels. The proofs are all Belgian, and the script "t" sould be the date code for 1941. This is odd since both Belgium and Czech were under German occupation at that time, and you would think they'd have the entire firearms industry producing military weapons. Probably the barrels made in 1941 and the gun completed some time after the war, but still strange to me they would have been manufactured at all at that time.
