Sad day for me when B&P discontinued their High Pheasant loading.
My carefully hoarded supply is dwindling. Are there any factory loads available that approximate the High Pheasant loading? Either 2.5" or 2 3/4" is acceptable.
The High Pheasant works very well on December doves in my 1920's Sauer.
(too bad upland bird hunters don't rank as high as sporting clays shooters do with the ammo manufacturers....probably because we tend to reload more than tournament shooters.)

Probably because the market is just not near as large anymore for upland hunting shells in this category. Mo0st upland hunters today are using one of those Slam-Bam Semi-Auto's.

And they're convinced that 1 1/4 oz of lead needs to move at 1500 fps.

I've used them on pheasant in MT and the Dakotas and love the 1-1/16 ounce #6 loads. Have one box left. Trouble was, they were impossible to buy in Alaska.

I preferred the 1oz loading and it worked just fine for me. I kept bugging Kari to get the 1oz 5's in but when they did bring in 5's it was in the 1 1/16 loading. The hulls reload nicely for a couple of loads too. An ounce of NP 5's works well in them.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

How did you reload them ? I tried once and as I remember the primer hole was smaller than my MeC deprime punch ( 600 Jr) after the first handful
Got stuck on the pin I gave up.

They come off the pin a little hard but not enough to make it a big problem.
